James’ home has been carefully designed around his individual sensory needs, creating an environment that supports his wellbeing, independence and quality of life. Through structured training, strong teamwork and a collaborative approach, the level of support required has been successfully reduced — a significant achievement that reflects both James’ progress and the dedication of the team around him.
His social worker shared the following feedback:
“This is the best supported living placement I have worked with. The whole bungalow has been tailored to James’ sensory needs. He was originally 5:1 when FOSSE started to support him and, with good training, strong staff teamwork and collaboration, this has now been reduced to 2:1, which is much better for James. It is also less restrictive. Vijay has gone above and beyond with the decorating and ensuring all of James’ needs are met within the environment. I have shared the video I took of the bungalow with colleagues, who all agree it is far better than most.”
Reducing support ratios while maintaining safety and quality of care is a significant milestone. It demonstrates the power of personalised environments, skilled staff, and a consistent, person-centred approach.
We are incredibly proud of the team for their commitment and of James for the progress he continues to make in a home designed entirely around him.
