At Fosse Healthcare, we are incredibly proud of the positive impact our Adult Support Services have on the lives of the people we support and their families. Recently, we received heartfelt feedback from the parents of one of the gentlemen living at our Oaklands avenue service.
Their feedback is a powerful reflection of partnership, perseverance and person-centred support in action:
"" We are extremely happy with the service being offered by Fosse regarding Freddies ongoing support. He is now entering his third year at Oaklands avenue. This alone shows that Freddie has settled into his new home and placement. The team supporting Freddie have also become confident in dealing with the challenges that arise. Communication has become one of the main focuses between the team at Fosse and family.
We feel that Freddie is now starting to make his own choices with support from the team. He still remains extremely focussed on his activities and routines. These activities and routines are really important to Freddie and with support from the team at fosse he accesses them safely. These have become Freddies motivation, and part of his adult life.
Freddie has also become very focussed on shopping. This can sometimes cause problems regarding purchasing large amounts of the same item. These include coffee, sugar, coke and chocolate. His spending / budget often goes above the planned amounts. This needs to be continuously monitored and the amounts decreased when possible. We understand that this is not easy and have to pick our battles regards Freddie. The team have tried, and continue to try and support Freddie with his budget. This includes having some items delivered on Monday so Freddie does not need to buy them. We also recycle items like swim suits, shorts and joggers to help keep spending down.
The team has also become more confident when dealing with/ communicating with myself and Jayne. We are often pre-warned if Freddie is showing any signs of heightened anxiety. The team have formed a close bond with Freddie and he does trust the support team around him. We have also noticed that Freddie now accepts multiple team members for support not just one.
Freddie is extremely happy in his current placement. ""
This feedback highlights what truly matters in adult support: building trust, encouraging independence, supporting meaningful routines, and working closely with families every step of the way.
We are incredibly proud of Freddie’s journey so far and of the dedicated team at Oaklands avenue who continue to support him with patience, creativity and compassion. Stories like this remind us why we do what we do — empowering people to live fulfilling adult lives with the right support around them.
